Humanity is facing a difficult time all over the world today. COVID-19 is impacting everyone globally and in India.

Our life as we know it has changed and this includes how we communicate, how we work, how we behave towards the environment and community and has put us in a position where we must demonstrate great responsibility towards ourselves and towards others.

At this time, I want to personally assure your that the senior leadership team at Shoppers Stop and Crossword are constantly thinking about your well being and prioritizing the health and safety of you and your families before anything else. We are there to support you during this time for anything that you might need us to address.

The best advice during this time would be to stay home, stay isolated, and take care of your family.

We are in an unchartered territory, and I know how unsettling and uncertain this feels. I see the struggle in our economy, the empty streets, malls and retail outlets, and I am afraid that the impact of the corona virus on the retail industry has been particularly severe.

We need to approach this crisis responsibly and thoughtfully, as it attacks both our health and our economic well-being. State governments across the country have issued directives which have resulted in a virtual shutdown of all our stores. It is clear that the situation will worse before it gets better.

As a team, we are determined to emerge out of this crisis stronger, wiser and more resolute as an organisation than when we entered into this crisis.

I would request each of you to provide suggestions and solutions on how to effectively prepare ourselves for the economic downturn we will be facing. Each of us, wherever we are, has the opportunity to contribute their Ideas for the company during this time, and together each of these ideas will make a big difference in the days to come.
